About
About sagui
sagui is a photometric counterpart to capivara. The package keeps the general IFU segmentation logic, but it shifts the focus from representative median spectra to region-integrated photometric SEDs with uncertainty propagation.
This makes it useful for workflows where segmentation is only the first step, followed by:
- SED fitting
- region-wise flux integration
- stellar population analysis
- property-map generation
COIN Toolbox
sagui is part of the broader COIN Toolbox effort to provide open, reusable tools for astronomical inference, statistical modeling, and data-driven workflows.
The COIN identity is community-oriented, method-focused, and designed to support reproducible science.
Design Principles
- concise public API
- robust defaults for real IFU cubes
- standalone transforms that can also be called inside segmentation
- clear separation between segmentation and region-level summaries
- optional acceleration without forcing heavyweight dependencies
